Father absence is one of the most significant — and least discussed — crises facing youth in America today. When a father is absent, whether through abandonment, incarceration, addiction, or death, the impact ripples through every dimension of a young person's life: their self-worth, their relationships, their academic performance, their economic outcomes, and their mental health.
What the Research Shows
Study after study confirms what we see in our communities every day: youth without consistent father figures are significantly more likely to struggle with low self-esteem, unhealthy relationships, academic underachievement, and financial instability.
